Do you agree with what Pete Waterman said about X Factor?

Pete Waterman has said that "cheating" has taken over The X Factor.





The music producer, who was critical of the Pop Idol second series winner Michelle McManus, told NME that music was irrelevant to its successor.





Waterman said: "I was offered it and turned it down. People see these talent shows as 'The way to do it'. But they're not.





"Don't get fooled by The X Factor. The fundamental question is this: What do you know about music? Are you in this for music or fame? And the musical genre - pop, rock, whatever - is irrelevant here."





He added: "I'm still a cheerleader [for reality music shows] but what you've got now is not the show I was on, which was why I walked off series two.





"The cheating has taken over! It's irrelevant that there's even music on these shows."





Waterman recently claimed The X Factor was in fact "the Simon Cowell show".|||Hmmm interesting. It almost sounds as though pete waterman is jealous of cowells success. How long has it been since waterman was in the limelight? How long has it been since his labels produced consecutive hits. I've been pitman floyd and I will ponder it.|||Bullshit...|||Sometimes the XFactor gets it right, and sometimes they don't.





This year even from the bootcamp stages they seemed to let go of some of the better vocally talented singers, and that continued throughout the series where the singers who were most relevant to the music industry had been booted out.





Occasionally the talent shines through: Leona and Alexandra. But sometimes it doesn't: Steve, Shayne and Leon.





The show has become more about the personality of the contestants and not their ability to sing and be able to survive within the industry.





We are now left with:





Stacy: great personality but would get lost in the shuffle quite easily compared to other singers.


Danyl: A person who has an innate quality that makes you hate him.


Joe: A talented singer but offers nothing new or special, he seems like he should be in musicals and not the music industry.


Olly: Probably the best performer of the final 4, but suffers from Robbie Williams syndrome - in that only the UK will 'get' him.|||It does sound as though he is a bit jealous of Simon cowell, But in another way it is kind of the simon cowell show, its all set up Simon decides who goes out and who stays it, He said he didn't like jedward BS he loved them, it was getting more and more viewers to watch even if you hated jedward you still watched the show, Also Simon said to Edward "I think "I do like you guys, its just for the show don't worry even if you leave the show I'll make you famous" It's all a friggen set up man, But In a way it is cheating cause even if you vote, it doesn't count cause Simon makes all the rules.|||yes i agree
